SEAI grant: €800 per eligible external door, up to €1,600 for two

Kilgate Doors

The door: Martom 72 Arktic Alu

Every door we sell is one product in one class, so you are not comparing a cheap line against a premium one. This page is the specification in plain words, with the numbers taken from the manufacturer's declarations rather than the brochure.

What it is

A 72 mm thick hybrid leaf: a core of wood and steel with polyurethane insulation, faced with a laminated finish on both sides. It hangs in a 90 mm aluminium frame with a thermal break, so the frame does not conduct cold into the hall the way a plain steel frame does.

Glazed models carry a four-pane 68 mm glazing unit. The whole door is made to order by Martom, a Polish manufacturer that has been building external doors since 1999, and delivered to Ireland complete with frame, threshold, hardware and any sidelights.

Heat and draughts

Thermal transmittance from the CE declaration, worst case across the size range: 0.89 W/m²K for a solid door, 1.1 glazed and 1.3 glazed with sidelights. SEAI asks for 1.4 or better, so every configuration qualifies for the grant.

Air permeability is class 4, the top of the scale under EN 12207. In practice that is the number you feel in January: the gap along the bottom of an old door loses more heat than the whole leaf, and class 4 means that gap is gone.

Security

A ROTO QB three-point multipoint lock is standard on every door: three locking points along the lock side, engaged by one turn of the key. RC2 burglar resistance to EN 1627 is available as an option on the Modern, No Glass, Simple Elegance, Classic and Smooth collections.

Warranty

5 years on the door and 2 years on the lock, hinges, seals and other hardware. In years 1 and 2 a fault is fixed at no cost to you, including the call-out. From year 3 to 5 the replacement part for the door is free and the visit is charged, quoted before anyone comes out.
